New Balance
The New Balance U420 Trainer for autumn/winter ’11, seen here in black. When the 420 was released in 1982 Runner’s World Magazine named it their running shoe of the year – and those guys knew a thing or two about running. Designed to be a super-lightweight running shoe, it led the way then in performance, fit and comfort. Today it is still the archetypal running shoe whose shoulders everything that came after stands. This version of the 420 comes in a sleek black colourway with tonal New Balance ‘N’ and a contrasting grey heel section. The upper is made from suede and nylon mesh, while the sole contains something called a “lunar pillow” to absorb shock.
